Addiction and substance use disorders are complicated and if left untreated can have life-damaging results. Beaufort Memorial offers a multi-faceted approach to identifying, treating and preventing opioid and other substance abuse disorders. Our private addiction medicine clinic evaluates patients for medical assisted therapy (MAT) and connects them with recovery resources and support services.
If you are concerned about issues with alcohol, tobacco or drugs, please speak with a primary care provider or call 843-522-7290 to make an appointment with a provider at the MAT Clinic.
Treatment Options for Addiction:
Substance Use Assessments: An individualized and comprehensive assessment of a person' history and current use of alcohol, tobacco, opioids, narcotics or other drugs. Providers will make a recommendation for the level of care that best meets the patient's needs.
Outpatient Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT):
Patients addicted to opiate prescription medications or illegal opiates can experience withdrawal symptoms when not using opioids and continue to use them despite negative consequences. Medication assisted treatment may help reduce the craving for opioids so individuals can get on with their life, focus on recovery and avoid future overdose. This level of treatment includes supervision from our medical director and counseling and support.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment:
Outpatient programs provide patients the ability to maintain their regular commitments to family, work and other responsibilities. Our team can refer patients to non-residential treatment options that may serve as a "step-down" from a more intensive level of care or can serve as the patient's main treatment.
Outpatient Counseling:
Therapy and counseling can help you identify the root cause of your drug use, repair relationships and learn healthier coping skills. Referrals are provided to therapists who specialize in both mental health related issues and addictions for one on-one therapy sessions or group counseling.
Inpatient Medical Detoxification:
If necessary, our team can discuss options for elective medical detox and provide local/regional options for inpatient programs that offer a safe, comfortable and controlled environment for supervised drug or alcohol detoxification.
